What you need to know before taking the course...

Safety is highly stressed in the lab setting as on every jobsite.  Before you are able to start welding you will need a pair of safety glasses, appropriate welding gloves, and work clothes.  Preferably long sleeve shirt and denim jeans.  3/4 leather work boots will also be required for class and work out in the field.  Steel toed boots are optional but some jobsites require them to work so keep that in mind.  Remember your investing in your future.

OWI will be supplying your first pair safety glasses and welding gloves to get you started.  This cost is included in your tuition

A variety of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and some basic tools will be for sale at the shop or you can pick them up at any weld supply store. We recommend Mathenson. where you can pick up most of these items and most importantly a welding hood.
