Meet the Founder

Hi, I’m Darren Peveler, instructor and owner of Omaha Welding Institute, and I’d like to tell you a little about my background and why I started OWI.

I bring more than 30 years of welding, fabrication, construction, and project management experience to the classroom. Throughout my career, I’ve worked on projects across the United States, from residential and custom fabrication to large-scale commercial construction.

I’ve owned companies in Utah, managed operations in Las Vegas, and had my work featured in magazines. My career has also given me the opportunity to work with well-known entertainers, including Celine Dion and Smokey Robinson, as well as serve in project management roles during the construction of CityCenter and the Fontainebleau Hotel & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip.

After more than three decades in the industry, I wanted to take everything I’ve learned in the field and pass it on to the next generation of welders. That vision became Omaha Welding Institute.

At OWI, we’re not interested in simply teaching students how to pass a class. We want to teach them what it takes to succeed in the real world—proper welding techniques, quality craftsmanship, safety, productivity, problem-solving, and the work ethic employers expect.

I’ve spent my career seeing firsthand what companies look for when hiring welders, and now I have the opportunity to pass that knowledge and experience on to our students.

My goal is simple: prepare our students with the skills, confidence, and real-world knowledge they need to build successful careers in the welding industry.

I look forward to welcoming you to Omaha Welding Institute and helping you take the first step toward your future in welding.
