GTAW – Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (TIG)
The Advanced TIG Welding course is designed for students who want to develop the precision welding skills used in industrial fabrication, pipe welding, stainless steel, aluminum, and other specialized applications.
Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), commonly known as TIG welding, is a highly controlled welding process capable of producing clean, precise, high-quality welds on a variety of metals.
Students will receive extensive hands-on training using TIG welding on mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum, developing the control and technique necessary to produce quality welds on both plate and pipe.
Course instruction will include:
-
GTAW/TIG welding equipment and operation
-
Welding safety and proper PPE
-
Machine setup and welding parameters
-
Tungsten selection, preparation, and applications
-
Filler metal selection
-
Shielding gases and proper flow rates
-
Mild steel welding
-
Stainless steel welding
-
Aluminum welding
-
AC and DC TIG welding
-
Plate and pipe welding
-
Welding in multiple positions
-
Joint preparation and fit-up
-
Metals identification
-
Blueprint and weld symbol interpretation
-
Weld defects and troubleshooting
-
Visual inspection and weld quality
-
Introduction to applicable welding procedures and qualification requirements
A strong emphasis is placed on hands-on welding exercises to develop torch control, filler-metal manipulation, heat control, consistency, and overall weld quality.
Students will progress from plate exercises into more challenging applications, including pipe and out-of-position welding, as their skills develop.
This course is ideal for welders looking to advance their abilities, expand into TIG welding, prepare for more specialized welding work, or increase their value and earning potential in the industry.
Precision. Control. Skill. Take Your Welding to the Next Level.
